The new mayor of Gijón, Carmen Moriyón (Foro), has announced that the Asturian city will bring back bullfighting and the Begoña bullfighting fair after a three-year break. He announced this to the press this Monday and also stated that the bullfighting period will be "slightly shorter than usual" and that two or three bullfights will be held in August, as there are just under two months to go until the Semana Grande celebrations, and that one of them will be held on 15 August, Begoña Day.
